Ahhh, the sun

Though it is 93 million miles from the earth, it still never fails to sustain life on the blue planet. Without our sun, I’m quite sure it is obvious that we will die. However, this ball of hydrogen and helium fusing gas will also be the death of earth as well. In about the next 5 or 6 billion years the sun will become a red giant. It will begin to swell, swallowing mercury, Venus, earth, and mars. Then, it will start to collapse in under its own gravity, and explode. When the supernova happens, all of its enriched guts of life sustaining elements will be splattered out into the cosmos. Perhaps forming planets, and life on those planets too. Our sun will then become a neutron Star, the size of a city here on earth. Hopefully, by that time humans will have found a way to inhabit other worlds surrounding other stars.
Carl Sagan once said,
“Some 5 billion years from now, after its burned to a crisp, or even swallowed by the sun, there will be other worlds and stars and galaxies coming into being. And they will know nothing of a place once called earth.”
